Pet Owner Among Social Roles Helpful for Women With HIV

Having pets may be helpful for women living with HIV/AIDS and trying to manage their condition, according to a study published in the journal Women’s Health Issues and reported by News-Medical.Net. The study focuses on which social roles would help women take meds, follow doctors’ orders and live healthy lifestyles. Researchers found that the most powerful social roles were being a mother/grandmother, being a person of faith, an advocate, an employee and being a pet owner. All roles had positive impacts and empowered women to be more proactive in their health.
