The Philadelphia Department of Public Health is following New York City’s lead by holding a contest to design its condom wrappers, The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. New York City has designed its condom wrappers since 2007 but held its first contest last year. The Big Apple expects to give out more than 41 million condoms this year alone—and commercial sales in the city of all brands have increased twice the national rate. Philadelphia, which gives out only about 1.5 million condoms, has strong incentives to distribute more: The city has one of the highest rates of sexually transmitted infections in the country. To enter the contest, you must be older than 18 and live in the city.
