Wisconsin Art Exhibit Censors HIV-Positive Photographer
Overture Center art gallery caused an uproar after censoring an image in its exhibition of works by HIV-positive photographers, the Wisconsin State Journal reports. Officials at the Madison arts center removed the photo “Stripped” from the exhibition Living with HIV/AIDS: Perspectives Through the Lens. They deemed it inappropriate for the thousands of school- and preschool-age children who visit the gallery each week. The photo depicts a nude man holding pill bottles that cover his genitals.
