Public Health Insurance Proposed to Reduce National Deficit
The cochairmen of the White House–sponsored National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform released an initial draft of a report to reduce the national deficit—and it includes creating a public health insurance option, The Wall Street Journal reports. Other health care–related options include increasing cost sharing for Medicare and Medicaid enrollees, lowering payments to health care providers that participate in Medicare and cutting payments to lawyers to curb medical malpractice lawsuits.
