AIDS Ribbon Installed on Twin Peaks in San Francisco
A giant red AIDS ribbon was mounted on San Francisco’s Twin Peaks for the first time, marking the 30th anniversary of the first reported cases of AIDS in the United states, according to a statement from the San Francisco AIDS Foundation (SFAF), which organized the installation. The massive ribbon, 225 feet long by 165 feet wide, was installed by more than 100 SFAF community volunteers to emphasize that HIV is a continuing health threat in the Bay Area—every day in San Francisco, there are two new HIV cases.
