Simi Valley, Calif., Seeks Porn Mandate for Condoms

Officials in Simi Valley, California, are lobbying for a local measure that would require on-set condom use for all adult film productions, mirroring the ordinance recently passed in neighboring Los Angeles, reports The Los Angeles Times. In order to avoid the new porn-industry condom mandate and undefined regulations that went into effect March 5, porn producers said that they may pick up and move production beyond Los Angeles city limits. This provoked a strong response from representatives of neighboring Simi Valley, who are on a mission to curtail an adult film industry migration to their city. Porn industry spokespeople have countered that very few adult films are made in Simi Valley, and that the city’s local officials are overreacting.
