JetBlue Flight Attendant Pleads Guilty
Steven Slater, the former JetBlue flight attendant, plead guilty to a felony charge of second-degree attempted criminal mischief and a misdemeanor charge of fourth-degree attempted criminal mischief, The Associated Press (AP) reports. Slater admitted he pulled the emergency chute of a plane in August after it landed in New York City. Slater avoids jail time if he undergoes counseling and substance-abuse treatment for a least one year, but only if he does so to the court’s satisfaction. Slater’s attorney said his client took the matter seriously, but that Slater had been under tremendous pressure because of family issues and health problems, adding that his client is HIV positive.
