Gay Couples Encouraged to Get HIV Tests Together
Testing Together, a new program funded by the MAC AIDS Fund,
is encouraging gay couples to get tested for HIV together, The Huffington Post
reports. The program, which runs in Chicago and Atlanta, encourages couples to
get tested and then hear their results together, as well as speak with a
counselor about their relationship and sexual health. The program is hoping to
dispel myths and secrecy and to help couples establish trusting relationships in
which testing is part of their routine. Counselors are also trained to work
with couples who are serodiscordant, where one person is HIV positive and the
other is HIV negative.
