The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) has launched a new High Level Commission on HIV Prevention, according to a UNAIDS statement. The commission, which includes world-renowned leaders, will lead a social and political action campaign geared to “bring about a prevention revolution.” It is cochaired by Francoise Barré-Sinoussi, PhD, a Nobel Laureate in Medicine for her role in the discovery of HIV, and Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate.
