U.S. and South Africa Sign 5-Year HIV/AIDS Partnership

The United States and South Africa have signed a five-year partnership under the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) that will guide future HIV/AIDS efforts in South Africa, according to a PEPFAR statement. The partnership is a strategic plan between the U.S. government, the South African government and other stakeholders. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and South Africa’s International Relations and Cooperation Minister Maite Nkoana Mashabane finalized the agreement during a signing ceremony in the Treaty Room at the Department of State.
