HIV-Positive Virginia Man Sentenced to 50 Years in Prison

An HIV-positive Virginia man was sentenced to 50 years in prison for having sex with a minor and transmitting the virus to her, The Amherst New Era Progress reports. Carlos Rose pleaded guilty to 11 felony counts of child pornography, carnal knowledge of a child, indecent liberties and infected sexual battery. Rose, 41, was aware of his status when he had sex with the girl, who is now 15 years old. They met on Facebook. Rose was sentenced to 135 years, but 85 years were suspended, leaving him to serve 50 years.

There is a lot to be said about all acts involved. The child lies and get a beau. The beau lies and gets an underage gal, tapes sex, and infects her. Well, all said to me the 1st thing that hits me is that sex is a powerful drive. Lying is so normal. Education is much needed. We cannot afford to have the mass of our people in prison. The child is responsible as well as are the parents. We need scripts to be taught to us that will help us monitor and control and produce healthy behaviors.

AS A PERSON USED AS A TEENAGER. 13 AND WITH A 31 YR OLD MAN.... A SEX CRIME IS A SEX CRIME.... AND KNOWINGLY GIVING ANYONE HIV...WHEN U KNOW U HAVE IT, AND DON'T LET THEM KNOW... WELL THE PUNISHMENT FITS THE CRIME HE WILL BE OUT IN A DECADE OR TWO BUT SHE WILL HAV HIV HER WHOLE LIFE.... AND IF SHE DIES OF HIV .... WE HE SHOULD BE TRIED FOR MURDER...MAYBE THIS WILL GIVE MEN WHO ABUSE CHILDREN A WAKE UP CALL. AND MAYBE THIS WILL PUSH PEOPLE TO TELL THERE STATUS TO THEIR SEX PARTNERS.....

I'm a survivor of abuse by an adult as well as HIV+ for 16yrs, I was infected by a dishonest lover, at least I had a choice about that... I am discussed by both points of this article, abuse of a child and knowingly infecting someone. I pray he's treated VERY JUSTLY in prison & I'm sure he will be, but I hope isn't killed too soon. He should suffer for as long as the girl he infected does,I bet there are others too! I assure you it will be for the rest of her life, HIV+ or not!!! Thanks POZ!

Good....knowingly transmitting the virus in my opinion is like holding a loaded gun to a persons head.

where's the parents,why a 15 y/o is talking to a 41 y/o man.parents don't monitor there children anymore,the parents are it fault also.
