Visual AIDS New York held its 14th annual Postcards From the Edge preview party and art sale at Cheim & Read Gallery in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City.

The January 6 preview kicked off a three-day exhibition that featured approximately 1,500 postcard-sized original works. More than 1,000 people crowded into the gallery’s two main rooms to view the cards. Lucky gallery-goers could possibly spot a submission from world-famous artists such as Jeff Koons, Yoko Ono, Nicole Eisenman, Louise Lawler, Barry McGee and Kiki Smith. All the artwork is priced at $85—but there’s one catch: The artists’ signatures aren’t displayed with their works. Buyers only find out who created a postcard after they purchase it.

The event raised more than $82,200, making it the largest annual source of income for Visual AIDS—and the most successful Postcards event to date. The organization utilizes the power of art to provoke community dialogue about HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness through producing and presenting visual art projects.

A limited selection of postcards is still available for purchase at $85 each. Contact Visual AIDS at 212.627.9855 or info@visualAIDS.org for details.
