N Street Village, one of the largest providers in Washington, DC, of services for homeless women, is merging with Miriam House, The Washington Post reports. Miriam House, a transitional shelter for women with HIV/AIDS, will now be a program of N Street Village, which will offer housing, employment and addiction counseling to at least 900 women a year. The merger comes after years of struggling in a harsh economy that forced both shelters to cut back and do more with less.
