ACT UP New York protested outside the Queens offices of the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene demanding the agency improve its HIV prevention efforts, according to an ACT UP statement. The group wants the city health department to publicize pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) to at-risk communities, to fund local HIV prevention efforts despite federal budget cuts and to release accurate data on HIV rates. Such data would underscore the need for increased resources for HIV prevention.
