Free HIV Testing for Massachusetts African Americans
Massachusetts health officials announced the state’s first new HIV/AIDS testing campaign in four years on June 6, which will target African Americans,who make up 6 percent of the state’s population but 28 percent of people with HIV/AIDS, reports the Worcester Telegram and Gazette (telegram.com, 6/8).
The “Get Talking, Get Tested” awareness campaign will provide free tests on National HIV Testing Day, June 27.
“We want people to understand that getting tested for HIV should be a regular part of your health care routine,” Massachusetts Health Commissioner John Auerbach said.
The print and billboard campaign will last through the end of June in Boston, Worcester, Springfield, Lynn and Brockton.
