Let’s Kick ASS (AIDS Survivor Syndrome) is a grassroots support group for those who lived through the early epidemic. Founded by long-term survivor Tez Anderson, the group is celebrating its first anniversary Thursday, September 25.

To mark the occasion, the group is holding a free event starting at 7 p.m. in the San Francisco LGBT Center. There will be a birthday cake and socializing, but the event also will provide attendees with the opportunity to provide feedback.

Based on conversations, Facebook posts and emails, the group has drafted a set of principles for itself titled Long-Term Survivors’ Declaration and Agenda for Our Future. Input on the document from attendees will be solicited.

Earlier this year, the group launched the first National HIV/AIDS Long-Term Survivors Awareness Day on June 5, which was the 33rd anniversary of the first announcement of AIDS by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
