Alicia Keys and Jay-Z Perform at World AIDS Day Charity Concert in NYC

R&B songstress Alicia Keys spoke out about the impact of AIDS in Africa and raised funds for her charity, Keep a Child Alive, at her World AIDS Day concert in New York City’s Times Square, MTV News reports. The concert also featured an appearance by rap superstar Jay-Z.

In between performing fan favorites such as “If I Ain’t Got You” and “Superwoman,” Keys talked about her 2002 trip to Africa and the influence it had on her life. The crooner also announced a new contest, which will give some fans an opportunity to accompany Keys on her next visit to the continent.

To be entered into the competition, audience members were told to text a number to donate $5 to Keep a Child Alive. Fans may also enter online.

Keys ended the hour-long show by having Jay-Z join her in performing “Empire State of Mind (Part Two),” a piano-driven sequel to the pair’s hit collaboration.

Watch a video about Keys’s contest below.

May God bless you for taking an initiative to help those suffering from HIV/AIDS in different ways. May I also take advantage on your column to express my growing passion towards the affected minority like orphaned children in Malawi where the pandemic is on the increase. Should you know anyone or any organisation which have any willingness to help,in areas like accommodation, food, clothes, school, and good health, please do not hestate to get more information. God bless you.

I am glad to hear about what you are doing for other countries ,but the epdemic is alive and going strong in America. We need help here. Please make some of your causes for people in America that are suffering from this desease, I am not infected but I am affected by HIV. I work at a HIV/AIDS CBO in Louisiana and the numbers are going up each and every day. There are people in the states who don't have access to some of the meds or housing that is needed to have a good healthy lifestyle.
