The search for a cure for AIDS just got a boost, as amfAR is funding eight new grants totaling nearly $1 million to explore how HIV persists in the body and how the virus can be eradicated, according to an amfAR statement. Each grant ranges from $120,000 to $125,000. Researchers will investigate new pathways toward eradicating HIV in the body. Although researchers know the many places where the virus can hide, the grants will allow scientists to determine how HIV persists in those locations and how the virus can be eliminated.
