Arthur Ashe Learning Center Inspirational Tour at U.S. Open
An art tour in honor of the late Arthur Ashe will run throughout the United States Open, which ends September 9, The New York Times reports. Organized by his widow, the Arthur Ashe Learning Center Inspirational Tour is being displayed at the New York Hall of Science, which is next to the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens. The exhibit displays numerous portraits of Ashe and showcases many of his possessions, including several first edition books. In 1968, Ashe became the first black man to win the U.S. Open men’s singles title. In 1993, he died of AIDS-related complications.
