Nearly 10 Million People Worldwide Have ARV Access
A new report finds that 9.7 million people with HIV around the world were accessing antiretroviral (ARV) treatment in 2012, according to a statement by the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), which is one of the authors. The other authors are the World Health Organization and UNICEF. In 2011, a total of 8.1 million people had ARV access. UNAIDS seeks to continue expanding ARV access through cost savings from medical price reductions, simpler delivery systems and increased efficiencies.
