AVAC Outlines Critical Global HIV Priority Actions in 2013
A new report by AVAC identifies five major priorities for action in 2013. Achieving the End: One Year and Counting presents specific goals for next year that can make the most impact to begin ending the AIDS pandemic. The report’s title refers to the one-year anniversary of when world leaders started to discuss getting to the end. The goals include: ending confusion about combination prevention (which tools go with which other tools); narrowing the gaps in the treatment cascade (who gets meds); planning for the impact of new nonsurgical male circumcision devices; defining and launching a core package of demonstration projects for pre-exposure prophylaxis, or PrEP; and safeguarding HIV prevention research funding.
