A bill being considered in Bahrain would require its citizens living with a hereditary or incurable disease to get permission from the courts to get married, Arabian Business reports. Current law mandates engaged couples to get a certificate from the health ministry showing they have gone through a premarital exam, which includes tests for diseases such as sickle-cell anemia, HIV and hepatitis. The bill would require those who test positive for these conditions to get permission from a judge before they can marry.
