HIV/AIDS researcher Jay Brooks Jackson, MD, MBA, has been selected as the new dean of the University of Minnesota Medical School and vice president for Health Sciences, according to a university statement. Pending approval by the university’s board of regents, Jackson is expected to begin work in February. Most recently, he was the director of pathology for 12 years at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Jackson is known for HIV prevention and treatment research conducted in the United States, Uganda and China. He also is the principal investigator of the International Maternal Pediatric Adolescent AIDS Clinical Trials (IMPAACT) Network.
