Burma Evicts Residents and Staff of AIDS Care Home
Officials in Burma have evicted about 80 residents and staff from an AIDS care home in Rangoon following a visit to the home by Aung San Suu Kyi, the Nobel Peace Prize winner who was recently released from house arrest by the country’s ruling military leaders, the Voice of America (VOA) reports. The government says the eviction was ordered because the wooden shelter was in violation of Burmese law. The wooden shelter was run by a member of Aung San Suu Kyi’s National League for Democracy party.
