Bush Praises Faith-Based Initiatives on HIV and Malaria

In his June 28 weekly radio address, President George W. Bush said that faith-based groups, funded partly by the federal government, have reduced homelessness and unemployment in the U.S. and have fought HIV/AIDS and malaria overseas, Voice of America News reports (voanews.com, 6/28).

According to the article, Bush wants religious groups at home and abroad to have the same opportunities as secular groups to secure government money. He acknowledged that religious groups have been an invaluable component of the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).

“When we launched this program in 2003, about 50,000 people in sub-Saharan Africa were receiving anti-retroviral treatment for HIV/AIDS,” Bush said. “Today, that number is nearly 1.7 million.”

1. WHY would I want to involve a group of people that generally hate my guts..The Religious Right, People of Faith...in my treatment? 2. Under the failed Bush policies...economic, in this case...how much longer are Faith-based organizations exist? When it comes to putting gas in the car to get to work to put food on the table, who is going to give much to Faith-based organizations?

This is a misleading and biased perspective to address this growing epidemic. As if faith based programs are receptive to the LGBT community. Wrong! This president lacks a social conscience and has ignored the problems in our country. Faith based programs promote abstinece, yes a real option. But they don't really address the reality! People are still having unsafe sex! If find his potificating naseating!

"I am psychologically suffering from body wasting, mainly hips, face, legs and arms. Does anyone know where I can order something (maybe underwear with foam) to fill the sunken hips, so that pants can start looking normal? I feel pathetic when I look at myself in the mirror in jeans—jeans used to fill up so nicely, now they just hang!"
