Two Condom Bills Introduced in California Assembly

Two condom-related bills have been introduced in the California Assembly, according to the Bay Area Reporter. Introduced by Assemblymember Tom Ammiano (D–San Francisco), AB 336 would stop police and prosecutors from using possession of one or more condoms to arrest and prosecute alleged prostitution suspects. Advocates have argued that using condoms as evidence for prostitution is bad public health policy because it puts sex workers and their clients at risk for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. AB 332 would require condom use in all adult films. Introduced by Assemblymember Isadore Hall (D–Los Angeles), the bill is backed by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, which successfully campaigned to require condom use in all adult films made in Los Angeles County.

GLYDE Condoms supports AB 336. Punishing individuals who choose to play it safe is not only illogical, but reprehensible.
