Gay Blood Ban Lawsuit Dismissed in China
A court in China has dismissed a lawsuit by a gay man
against the Red Cross, AFP reports. The man claimed that his blood donation was
refused because he was gay. State media say the lawsuit was the first of its
kind. Regulations issued by China’s health ministry say that “homosexuals and
those with multiple sex partners” cannot be donors. The United States also bans
blood donations by men who have sex with men.
