Caffeine Fix

by Laura Whitehorn

A medical study has found benefit in something we like drinking: Downing about 2.2 cups of coffee a day (300 mg of caffeine) was associated with slower rates of liver damage among people with chronic liver disease—especially those with hep C. Although the study didn’t consider HIV, both hep C and liver damage are common in HIV-positive people, so coffee may help them too.

If coffee isn’t your cup of tea, you can get those 300 mg from:

  • 8.8 cans of Coke
  • 8 cans of Pepsi
  • 3.75 cans of Red Bull
  • 5.5 cans of Mountain Dew
  • 7.5 cups of brewed black tea

 Fire up that percolator.
