The ballot measure passed by voters in Colorado to legalize marijuana took effect Monday, December 10, according to a State of Colorado statement. Democratic Governor John Hickenlooper signed an executive order formalizing the amendment as part of the state constitution. It is now legal for adults 21 and older in Colorado to personally use, possess and grow a limited amount of marijuana. Buying or selling marijuana and consuming it in public are still illegal in the state. The governor also signed an executive order to help implement the law by creating a task force that will deliver its recommendations in a report no later than February 28, 2013.
