Connecticut Advocates Protest $3 Million Cut to HIV/AIDS Programs
Connecticut’s Department of Public Health is proposing a $3 million cut to state programs that help people living with HIV/AIDS due to the billions of dollars in deficits, The Associated Press reports.
According to the article, AIDS advocates are pressing state officials to deny the funding cut, which would leave many positive residents without necessities such as food and housing.
Connecticut has about 10,900 people living with HIV/AIDS. The number of AIDS cases decreased from 418 in 2007 to 358 in 2008, and newly diagnosed infections dropped nearly half in 2008 to 387.

what is with the governor--what about that millionaires tax that sounded like hope to all of us. They can afford to pay the taxes--cutting programs like the hiv/aids can kill people--where is rell's head

This is a shame that our States are even thinking of making cuts in these type programs that are so necessary to so many. There are so many other places where to make cuts in the budget and many programs that they are paying for that are just not even necessary in the first place. It's time that our leaders really think hard about what they are doing and then do the right thing.
