Model Sues U.K. Newspaper for Use of Her Photo in HIV Story

A female nude model from Arizona has sued a major newspaper in the United Kingdom for $3 million claiming she was defamed, Courthouse News Service reports. Leah Manzari (a.k.a. Danni Ashe) accuses the Daily Mail of using her photo to accompany an August 22 article with the headline “Porn industry shuts down with immediate effect after ‘female performer’ tests positive for HIV.” That article precedes the decision by adult film actress Cameron Bay to publicly disclose she was the performer in question. Manzari claims the U.K. newspaper never asked for her permission to use her image and did not include a disclaimer. The Daily Mail later replaced her photo with a blurry image of a different model but has allegedly ignored Manzari’s demand for a retraction.
