EEOC Alleges HIV Discrimination at Texas Chicken Restaurant

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has sued a company that owns chicken franchise restaurants for violating federal law by discriminating against a job applicant because he has HIV, according to an EEOC statement. The EEOC alleges that the general manager of a Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits in Longview, Texas, refused to hire Noah Crawford after finding out he has HIV. Crawford has years of related experience, including working as a fast food restaurant general manager. The Longview Popeyes is owned by Famous Chicken of Shreveport LLC, which owns other restaurants in Texas and Louisiana. The lawsuit was filed after attempts to reach a pre-litigation settlement.

With a state that has homophobe Rick Perry as the governor, what could we expect from a business?
