Ambassador Mark R. Dybul, MD, the former United States globalAIDS coordinator, has been appointed as the new executive director of theGlobal Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, according to a Global Fundstatement. Under President George W. Bush, he helped create and then led thePresident’s Emergency Program for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). His most recentposition was codirector of the Global Health Law Program at the O’Neill Institutefor National and Global Health Law at Georgetown University. Before PEPFAR,Dybul was a staff clinician at the National Institute of Allergy and InfectiousDiseases.
