A new study conducted by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) reveals that most men and women remain sexually active well into their 70s and 80s, engaging in vaginal intercourse, masturbation and oral sex.

The study, published last Thursday, also shows a considerable need for health education among these senior citizens, with 15 percent of new infections in people over the age of 50.

Some organizations have already stepped up to address this issue. Last month, New York City’s Department of Aging worked to raise awareness by distributing condoms at senior centers to curb infection among the elderly population.
