Last October, AIDS activist and musician Sir Elton John told GQ writer Chris Heath that his newest film project—an AIDS musical with comedian Ben Stiller—was quite hilarious.

EJ: It’s about a guy on Broadway who is gay, has AIDS and has to go back and face his wife and kids that he left. It’s very funny.
CH: It [isn’t] sounding funny, so far…
EJ: No, it’s very funny. The premise doesn’t sound funny, but it is.  All right?

While it’s hard to imagine that low CD4 counts, denial and deserted family members could make for a toe-tapping, knee-slapping good time, if anyone can make AIDS amusing, the Rocket Man can.
