Elton John, Billie Jean King Come Out Swinging
Billie Jean King is set to team with Sir Elton John to host the 15th annual Advanta World Team Tennis Smash, a charity tennis tournament to benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation and ActionAIDS, a Philadelphia-based AIDS service organization.
The tournament will feature court stars Andy Roddick, Lindsay Davenport and Anna Kournikova, among others. King, a six-time Wimbledon champion, will compete against John in one of the night’s many matches.
“[Elton] loves tennis and knows so much about the game,” says King. “Of course, I think I’ve got a team that can beat him. We’re close friends but very competitive. It will be a great night of tennis.”
The Advanta World Team Tennis Smash has raised more than $8 million for Sir Elton’s foundation.
