Desert AIDS Project Addresses AIDS Among Gay Seniors
In its Gay and Gray workshop held earlier this month, Palm Springs, California, AIDS service organization Desert AIDS Project addressed issues ranging from dating to HIV treatment and prevention for gay men over the age of 50, the southern California news site The Press-Enterprise reports (pe.com, 4/3).
According to the article, the workshop was conducted in response to many older gay men feeling alienated, even in gay-friendly communities such as Palm Springs. Much of this isolation, says HIV-positive local Bob Chrnalogar, can be attributed directly to AIDS, which has thinned out support networks.
“Everybody died,” Chrnalogar told The Press-Enterprise. “I’m grateful for all the extra years I have, but I feel a little isolated.”
The group’s next Gay and Gray workshop is scheduled for April 22 in Palm Springs.

There is very little that affects a positive person that DAP doesn't cover. It is without a doubt the finest organizaion I have ever seen, the most caring and amazing.I truly feel blessed in so many ways to be able to say that my life would be a total shambles if it were not for DAP. I am thankful to all of you every day.

On the article of gay and grey as an older gay hiv+ man it seems clear to me i have few choices left as far as being alone. I can either mentally complain about older hiv stigma and regret not having a sexual partner. or i can use the gift god has given me and help those who have questions about growing old and isolated by the new gay adgenda. yes i miss not having a single sexual partner. but i do lots of service work and have tons of friends who love me for who i am and will be with me at end.
"I'm HIV positive and diabetic (as well as have high cholesterol) and some of my meds specify taking them with 'high fat foods' which I have to do twice a day. I've eaten as healthy as possible, but when it comes to high fat foods, I am in a quandary...about what to eat sometimes..."
