The Tahir Foundation in Indonesia has donated $65 million to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, which was matched by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for a total of $130 million, according to a Global Fund statement. The Tahir contribution to the Global Fund is the largest ever made to it by a private foundation in the developing world. The billionaire Dato Tahir is the namesake of the foundation. He is the founder, chairman and CEO of Indonesian–based conglomerate Mayapada Group.
