Here’s some food for thought: On May 2, God’s Love We Deliver celebrated the delivery of its 15 millionth meal. During the past 29 years, God’s Love We Deliver has provided life-sustaining meals and nutrition counseling for folks living with severe illnesses within the New York metropolitan area. To celebrate this momentous occasion, comedian and talk show host Joan Rivers, who is also a God’s Love board member, helped prepare the 15 millionth meal (based on the group’s best estimate). The event also marked the 29th anniversary of the organization’s beginning, when God’s Love founder Ganga Stone delivered the first meal to Richard, a man living with AIDS.

Close to 100 staff, volunteers and special guests came together at the God’s Love headquarters in Brooklyn to celebrate the event. Some of the special guests included board co-chairs Michael Sennott and Sylvia Vogelman, God’s Love board member and best-selling author Linda Fairstein, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and New York City Council Members Corey Johnson and Robert Cornegy. After everyone gathered in the kitchen and counted down the meals as they were being prepared, Joan Rivers delivered the 15 millionth meal to an 84-year-old client of God’s Love living with breast cancer.
