Responding to a rise in HIV rates in Greece, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) has urged the country to increase its efforts against the virus, Reuters reports. However, the Greek financial crisis may make it difficult for the country to expand HIV testing and treatment. HIV rates have increased significantly among injection drug users, especially in Athens. Rates of depression and suicide are also increasing in Greece, as well as rates of West Nile Virus and malaria.
