Grindr Blamed by Hong Kong AIDS Group for Rising HIV Cases
AIDS Concern, an HIV awareness group in Hong Kong, claims Grindr, a gay dating mobile app, is contributing to the rise in new HIV cases in the city among men who have sex with men, China Daily reports. From April to June, 131 new HIV cases were diagnosed, which is the highest quarterly total since record-keeping started in 1984. The department of health is concerned that total new HIV cases in 2012 could surpass 500, which would be a first. The awareness group also blamed the HIV increase on a lack of sex education in schools.
