People with hepatitis C (HCV) whose viral load falls quickly when they start treatment (interferon plus ribavirin) typically clear HCV faster than those whose viral load drops slower. That is now true for people who have HIV and HCV. In a study, HIV-positive folks whose HCV hit undetectable after four weeks were able to clear the virus after only 24 weeks of treatment (as opposed to 48 to 60 weeks for those slower to respond).
