A setback for both LGBT and HIV/AIDS advocates: The U.S.Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Advisory Committee on BloodSafety and Availability voted 9 to 6 in favor of keeping the federalgovernment’s current ban on blood donations from men who have sex with men, theWashington Times reports. Thecommittee’s nonbinding recommendations will be sent to the Food and DrugAdministration (FDA), which will ultimately decide the issue.
