Malaysia to Host Inaugural HIV and Islam Conference
The first HIV and Islam conference will be held November 19 to 21 in Malaysia, according to a statement from the International HIV/AIDS Alliance, which supports community action on the pandemic in developing countries. The Malaysian AIDS Council is an official partner of the event. Islamic and non-Islamic scholars, scientists and practitioners will share best practices. In Malaysia, 70 percent of people with HIV are Muslims, and most of them contracted the virus by sharing needles.
