HIV Infections in Asia Could Rise by 150 Percent

A recent report presented to the United Nations by the Commission on AIDS in Asia showed that the number of HIV infections in Asia could rise by more than 150 percent by 2020, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation reports (abc.net.au, 3/27).

According to the commission, unless more is done to combat the spread of HIV, the number of HIV-positive people on the continent could jump by 8 million.

The report called for greater involvement from political leaders, and more resources to be pledged to fight the epidemic.
