Clark Baker, founder of the Office of Medical and Scientific Justice (OMSJ), does not believe HIV causes AIDS. OMSJ claims success in helping defendants in HIV criminalization cases. Baker promotes those legal services through the HIV Innocence Group, which was originally named the HIV Innocence Project. In response, Todd DeShong of Fort Worth, Texas, started two blogs—hivinnocenceprojecttruth.com and hivinnocencegrouptruth.com—that are critical of OMSJ. In July, Baker sued DeShong in federal court for allegedly violating his trademark. Public Citizen, which represents DeShong in this case, wants the lawsuit dismissed, according to a Public Citizen statement. The group claims the suit is an attempt to suppress criticism by DeShong.
