New Anthony Weiner Details Distract NYC HIV Mayoral Forum

The HIV Mayoral Forum in New York City hosted by GMHC on Tuesday, July 23, was overshadowed by new revelations about Anthony Weiner, Gay City News reports. The former congressmember held a press conference at GMHC’s offices just prior to the forum to address additional sexting allegations.

Weiner was one of seven candidates in attendance, which included former Councilmember Sal Albanese, former Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion, Randy Credico, Public Advocate Bill DeBlasio, Comptroller John Liu and former Comptroller Bill Thompson. City Council Speaker Christine Quinn could not attend because she was with her sick elderly father.

The forum addressed concerns over HIV/AIDS budgeting, the city’s HIV/AIDS Services Administration and a proposed 30 percent rent cap for HIV-positive New Yorkers on public assistance. POZ editor-in-chief Oriol Gutierrez moderated the forum.

I am concerned about Quinn's position about care with people suffering HIV and AIDS. It looks like she don't care at all. For the first openly gay woman to run that looks very bad I believe that trumpa any Issue about Anthony Weiner issue....

The only distraction is being caused by the media who loves this crap. Rather than focusing on how effective Anthony Weiner was when he was in Congress. The media so easily DISTRACTS the GULLABLE JUDGEMENTAL PUBLIC when what this man does with his damn cell phone is between him and his wife. As GAY CITIZENS we should not waive in our support of this courageous man......like none of you out there haven't done much worse that twitter a few sexy pictures..... Nigel Priestley
