Financial Assistance for HIV-Positive New Zealanders
The New Zealand AIDS Foundation (NZAF) has launched a new program—called the Wellness Fund—that will provide financial assistance for HIV-positive people in the country, The New Zealand Herald reports (nzherald.co.nz, 4/1).
The primary focus of the Wellness Fund will be to cover health-related costs for HIV-positive people when alternate forms of funding are not available.
“Despite substantial improvements made over the last decade in the treatment of HIV, New Zealanders living with the virus continue to face significant and diverse challenges in maintaining their health and well-being,” said Eamonn Smythe of the NZAF.
According to the article, the fund would provide HIV-positive people with grants of up to $750 per year to go toward various medical costs, including nutritionists, physiotherapy and fees for general practitioners.
