An Illinois man claims he was denied his HIV medications while he was imprisoned in a county jail in 2010, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Arick Buckles was detained in the Bureau County Jail for a week on an outstanding arrest warrant for forgery charges. Jail officials allegedly told Buckles they couldn’t give him his HIV meds because they were too costly. The Illinois Department of Corrections is investigating the allegations. The state requires county jails to provide prescription medications.
