Seven people have tested HIV positive after receiving blood transfusions at a state-run hospital in Assam, India, the Hindustan Times reports. The incident surfaced after a former patient of the hospital was readmitted because of illness. He was tested for HIV, which confirmed he has the virus. He received blood from a professional donor, who claims he was not aware he was HIV positive. Officials are concerned that the number of people affected may increase. An investigation is under way.
